The Management of Healthcare Information Systems concentration and certificate presents three new Fall courses
ITM 351--Healthcare IT Enterprise Infrastructure
This course provides a survey overview of the multiple types of network infrastructure based systems found in the Healthcare IT setting. The course considers the Open systems Interconnection Reference Model (OSI) and other standards applied to the Healthcare setting, as well as Network Infrastructure components and related technologies used in healthcare settings; Cloud and Shared Services Models for Datacenter development; Data Security as it relates to HIPAA; Network design and Picture Archiving Communication System (PACs) system integration, as well as bandwidth and network diversity, outsourcing, and ISP/ASP vendor analysis.
ITM 352--Managing Projects in Healthcare

ITM 396G--Healthcare Informatics for Business Planning
This is the second of our three course sequence on healthcare informatics. A focus of the course is creating a broad range of actionable analytics in healthcare environments. Students will use data to generate trend metrics and various analyses. Healthcare Informatics Course Sequence
The 3-course healthcare informatics sequence (ITM 396F, Healthcare Business Modeling; 396G, Healthcare Informatics for Business Planning; ITM 396H, Healthcare Interoperability HL7/HIPAA EDI) provide immediately useful skills on a range of computational methods for analyzing patient, carrier and provider data, in conjunction with the study of healthcare events from an economic viewpoint, specifically the clinical perspective. Reviews of architectural modeling on interoperability in healthcare will be a major focus. Students will learn HL7 messaging standards and EDI (X12 4010/5010) HIPAA transactions for provider, carrier and other stakeholder exchanges.
